The Performance Company have re-introduced the Remus brand of exhausts into the UK… and maybe it’s time you sat up and took notice!
Remus is a name that many people recognise, yet there are very few people in the UK who appear to know much more than the fact that they make exhausts. The Performance Company are now distributing the Remus brand throughout the UK though and are on a mission to let retailers know exactly the sort of quality product Remus is and how they can benefit from it. P&S caught up with Pete Dennis of TPC to get a bit of history about the brand and the inside line on how they plan to push Remus exhausts further in the UK. Remus is an Austrian company that started with five staff from the very beginning back in 1990. Within months the factory was up and running and after just over a year of being in existence they’d already expanded into a 6000 square metre facility and employed 60 staff members. This growth continued throughout the 1990s, and by the end of the decade Remus were opening up their second factory and boasted a workforce of 270 people. That growth hasn’t stopped either, with their manufacturing space further extended in 2006 and the last head count showing 350 names on the payroll. Clearly they are not a small company.
But size counts for nothing without quality and Pete believes they excel in this area too. To give you an idea, Remus produce exhausts for many of the well known, high-end German tuners such as Brabus, AC Schnitzer and Irmscher, as well as manufacturing original exhausts for Ducati motorcycles. These types of companies only deal with premium products so the fact they call on Remus is testament to their quality. At every stage of the production process Remus check their exhausts for both fit and quality, helping to ensure they replace the original item with the absolute minimum of fuss and with over 2000 part numbers in their range most cars can benefit from one of their systems. They’ll also benefit from Remus’ lifetime warranty, which is a massive added sales point.
So how can you as a retailer benefit from supplying your customers with Remus products? “Customer satisfaction! Warranty claims are almost unheard of, and all Remus exhausts are a fantastic fit so can be confidently fitted by any DIY mechanic or garage,” explains Pete, “due to the depth of range too, there is a good chance Remus will have a fitment for your customer’s car… even if none of your other suppliers do.” He goes on to talk about the all important profitability, suggesting that they have a genuinely realistic RRP and healthy dealer discounts which combine to make Remus a very attractive proposition.
From TPC’s point of view, they believe their hard work in becoming UK distributor for Remus will also pay off for retailers. In the past it has proven difficult for distributors to successfully stock the entire range in the UK so TPC have created an arrangement that gives dealers the quickest, and most importantly, the most consistent delivery times possible. Exhausts are shipped directly from Remus in Austria to the dealer by UPS in just three working days at a cost of just £10 per box. Pete believes this compares very favourably with UK produced systems in terms of timescale and cost, and as TPC have live access to stock levels at the factory, they can confirm whether an item is in stock within seconds which saves dealers any unexpected delays and embarrassment in front of customers.
On top of all that TPC have created the first ever English language Remus website, RemusUK.com, that is great for the end user as a guide to the products, UK RRPs, images and power graphs where possible, yet dealers also benefit from it. Not only can they too use it as a catalogue, there’s also a dealer locator function on the site which will help drive browsers to their nearest store. As TPC don’t retail Remus at all, every inquiry is guaranteed to be re-routed to a Remus dealer which means they can benefit from the nationally targeted online presence.
So if you want to start offering your customers a proven quality brand of exhausts, want a huge range of fitments available and great delivery times along with healthy margins, then Remus exhausts through TPC is just what you’re looking for.
